Nearly every night at Alinea, the sommelier team is asked the same question, "Where can I get this wine?" Alinea: Oenophilia has been created to answer that question: "Right here."
 
Pairing wine with food is an art with no hard rules, especially when the cuisine is as eclectic and dynamic as at Alinea. The romantic notion is that a sommelier with a golden palate and a vault-like memory tastes the food and instantly knows just the right match. There is some truth to that, but the reality is usually far different. Alinea's sommelier team often tastes dozens of wines to find the perfect match for a dish. And that is on top of the frequent visits from vintners, distributors, and wine makers who come to Alinea every afternoon to sell their wines. Our staff tastes literally hundreds of wines every month searching for quality, uniqueness, and value. If you love wine, there are worse places to be on a weekday afternoon than the front dining room at Alinea!
 
The wine philosophy at Alinea is simple: great wines are made nearly everywhere in the world and should be given equal consideration. It is hardly surprising, for example, to find a superb white Burgundy, nor should it be at those prices. And they certainly have their place. But Joe Catterson and his sommelier team take great pride in finding the less heralded wines that give tremendous pleasure with food.
 
Alinea:Oenophilia has launched, featuring our annual and quarterly wine subscription programs.  While nothing can replace the actual experience of a dinner at Alinea, our wine subscription program has been designed to provide a window into the unique culinary journey that experience represents.  Our subscription program delivers you true “insider” wines selected by Joe and his expert team for your enjoyment in the comfort of your own home.
 
Please enjoy our virtual wine bar showcasing selections by Alinea’s sommelier team representing many of their favorite styles, regions, and producers. We offer access to wines ranging from some of their most beloved standbys to newly discovered prizes, from the classic to the most esoteric. We will also feature offerings of some of the more exclusive and collectible wines available to us. And, of course, we will be pleased to offer additional quantities of wines featured in our seasonal subscriptions to the extent that they are available.

FAQ

When will my subscription ship? Subscriptions typically ship on a quarterly basis.  Subscriptions purchased close to the next scheduled quarterly shipment or after the current quarter has sold out will begin with the next quarterly shipment.  Welcome Kits are typically shipped within 1-2 business days after your subscription has been purchased.

What do the different stock statuses mean? Products may be marked as Pre-Arrivals, Temporarily Out of Stock, No Longer Available, or Available via Subscription only. To inquire about a Pre-Arrival or Temporarily Out of Stock wine, please contact us at (800) 978-0584. Some Temporarily Out of Stock wines will ship within one week. Items that are Available via Subscription only are offered exclusively to our Tasting and Tour Subscribers.

Where do you ship?  Alinea:Oenophilia accepts all orders for shipment in New York and to compliant states nationwide.   There are a number of states where state laws prohibit us from shipping wine directly to consumers and these laws are changing constantly.  Acceptance of an order is not a guarantee that we will ultimately be able to ship wine to you. We will notify you during the checkout process if we are unable to ship wine to the zip code you request.   Non-alcoholic products can be shipped throughout the 50 United States.

Do you ship internationally?  We do not offer international shipping at this time.  Please contact info@alineawine.com if you have any additional questions.

What are your shipping rates?  
Shipping rates for cellar and accessories purchases are based on weight, destination, and method.  Subscription purchases are charged a flat 14% shipping and handling fee which covers shipment of your initial Welcome Kit and four quarterly subscription wine shipments.  All subscriptions are traditionally shipped via ground or express based upon seasonal temperatures to ensure quality delivery of product.

Do you have a cancellation fee? All cancelled orders—including orders for Pre-Arrivals—are subject to a 20 percent cancellation fee. Please contact us as soon as possible for any changes or cancellations.

Are the wines shipped from Alinea?  No.  Through its relationship with Alinea, New York Vintners has introduced the Alinea:Oenophilia website and subscription program.  New York Vintners is solely responsible for the procurement and sale of products purchased on this site. 

Do you have gift certificates?
  Yes. To purchase gift certificates of any denomination, contact us at (800) 978-0584 or email info@alineawine.com. Gift certificates and promotional codes can be redeemed at checkout. Please enter the appropriate code to apply.

Can I make gift purchases?   Yes.  To ship a gift, we will request the name, shipping address and phone number of the recipient—and we will not share any of this information with third parties. Gift recipients may receive future information on our special offers and products, but they may opt out of this service at any time.

Do I have to create an account? 
Yes.  To complete a purchase we require you to register for an account.   We require your first and last name, email, date of birth to verify that you are age 21 or older, and a password with at least five characters. We also ask for your shipping and billing address, which will facilitate any future purchases you decide to make. All alcoholic beverages shipped, including those outside of the United States, will require a signature by an adult of legal drinking age. 

How can I stay connected with site updates and developments? To Stay Connected with Alinea:Oenophilia, we will request your email. If at any point you chose to stop receiving emails, please click unsubscribe on the emails or email us at info@alineawine.com.

What is your security policy?
All forms requesting sensitive information are encrypted with SSL (Secure Socket Layers). On a secure page, there will be a lock icon on the bottom of the Web browser when you are in the secure state. Additionally, the web address will switch to https:// as opposed to http://. All of your user data is restricted to Alinea:Oenophilia personnel with password access to ensure that your data is protected offline as well. For all receipts we show only the last four digits of your credit card.

What are cookies?  Do you use them?  Yes. These small files or part of files that contain personal information  (e.g., preferences, pages visited, user identification codes) are stored on a website user’s computer and read by a server. These cookies become directly correlated with your experience, setting unique session identifiers. These help us to identify your computer so that users may access saved items in carts, retain shipping preferences, and remain logged into their accounts If a user decides to reject the cookies and continue browsing the site, the user will be unable to save items in the cart, log in, or purchase items. Alinea:Oenophilia does not share cookie information with any other parties.
