Alinea: Oenophilia

Chenin Blanc, Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Roussanne: We stumbled across this wine last spring, excited to find something so impressive from South Africa. We enjoyed featuring in the restaurant for a bit, and hadn’t revisited it for several months. Retasted today (9/17/09), we are happy to report that it is showing beautifully. This is a unique, fascinating, biodynamically produced, meticulously hand-crafted blend of Chenin Blanc, Grenache Blanc, Viognier, and Roussanne. It has gorgeous but subtle aromas and flavors of baked pear and quince with shadings of brown spice and a softly smoky nose. Honeyed but dry, showing touches of tangerine and golden raisin. Medium-full bodied, with balanced acidity. Excellent, definitely something to drink now.
